What We Tested This Week: Lululemon Pace Rival Crop Legging

Who This Is Perfect For: Anyone who has yet to find the perfect pair of leggings for working out

Our editors share what they are obsessing over now!

I got my first pair of Lululemon leggings when I was in college. I went to the mall, browsed through their selection of pants, tried on a few different pairs, and settled on the Pace Rival. When I made that purchase, I had no idea that I'd be still buying the same pair 10 years later.

Since that first purchase, I've tried a slew of other Lululemon leggings, but none have satisfied me as much as the Pace Rivals. The material wasn't as nice, or they didn't have enough pockets, or the seams were too rough and aggravated my skin (one pair even made me bleed once), or they rode up and made it uncomfortable at my knee joint to run. After every attempt to try something new, I always came running back to my OG.

I'm a runner, and I live in New York City, which means that post-run I'm hitting the grocery store, grabbing dinner or a coffee, or running any other errand needed so I don't have to take the four flights of stairs to my apartment any more than absolutely necessary. Because of my lifestyle, I need a pair of leggings that can hold everything I need without weighing me down. The Pace Rivals hit all the buckets — two side pockets big enough to fit the new iPhone 11 and a zipper pocket in the back so you can secure keys, credit cards, etc.

One of my biggest challenges when shopping for pants (even workout leggings) is that my waist is about two sizes smaller than my hips. If something fits in the waist, it's too tight in the thighs, and visa versa. Basically, this means that I need a tie in my workout pants so I can tighten the waist to keep them from falling down. Do the Pace Rivals have a tie? You bet! As long as I get it tied the right way, I have no trouble with the leggings sliding down mid-run.

Now over the years, it's natural that Lululemon would update their classic pant. Thankfully, the brand has made it even better. The Pace Rivals are now made with Lululemon's signature Luxetreme fabric, which is sweat-wicking, cool to the touch, super stretchy, and thick enough to not show underwear lines (or what's under your underwear). This pair of leggings is mid-rise with a 22-inch inseam, so it can really work for women of all heights.

What about other brands of leggings, you might ask? I've tried those, too. I promise, nothing beats the product, the material, or the customer service of Lululemon. Try them for yourself now.
