As the beauty editor (and resident lipstick hoarder) of Best Products, one of my favorite parts about this job is regularly testing new beauty products coming my way and ensuring that the items we cover are truly worth your hard-earned money. To help you discover new beauty products that live up to their claims, I'll be spotlighting my favorite releases each month.
Spring is officially here, and with it comes a sea of exciting new beauty products tailored around the idea of new beginnings. Companies are trading in heavy creams for fast-absorbing moisturizers, while dark makeup and nail polish are replaced with fun, vibrant colors.
Beyond heavy hitters like Lancôme, Too Faced, and Murad, I was delighted that many women-owned beauty brands — Danessa Myricks and LYS Beauty — have helped level up my beauty game. And while Rihanna unfortunately still hasn't given us her hotly anticipated ninth album, we at least have new Fenty Beauty to help hold us over. Gwen Stefani also dropped a gorgeous clean beauty line at Sephora, while Ariana Grande surprised us with eight new skin and makeup products from r.e.m. beauty.
And I can't talk about spring without bringing up my favorite beauty topic… sunscreen! This month, I tested plenty of options and narrowed them down to my two favorites: a spray sunscreen for your body and a face sunscreen inspired by the founder's Jamaican heritage.
Here are 20 new beauty products that I can't stop using, and I think you'll love them, too. As a bonus, these picks start at just $4 and are readily available at reader-favorite stores like Walmart, Amazon, Sephora, Nordstrom, Ulta, and more.
Chapped lips occur when you don't regularly exfoliate dead skin cells and restore hydration with a lip balm or mask.
Grande Cosmetics, the maker of one of my favorite lip-plumping glosses, introduced a 2-in-1 lip scrub. It's made with exfoliating ecobeads, rosehip extract, and several nourishing ingredients, ranging from shea and mango butters to four deeply moisturizing oils.
I use it to prep my lips before wearing matte lipstick or at night, so I wake up with a smooth and supple pout in the morning.
A crisp red lip is the ultimate classic beauty look, and no modern star does it better than Gwen Stefani.
The former L’Oréal spokesmodel released a clean makeup line at Sephora comprised of eight beauty products, including matte, satin, and liquid lipsticks.
Stefani’s liquid lipstick is my favorite item from her line because it features a small doe-foot applicator that’s perfect for creating a crimson pout that won’t fade or feather.
Sunblock is a non-negotiable product, but mineral sunscreens aren't ideal for anyone with darker skin tones because they typically leave behind an ashy finish.
However, Supergoop’s latest mineral sunblock won’t leave behind a white cast. Instead, it utilizes fruit and plant extracts and a trio of oils to provide antioxidant protection and nourish my skin.
LYS Beauty introduced three new shades of its popular cream blush: Classy (coral-peach), Epic (tangerine red), and Humble (cool, soft pink).
These gorgeous blushes are a staple in my beauty routine because they boast a clean formula, last for hours, and don't congest my pores. They also combine soothing vitamin E and hydrating avocado oil with kaolin clay, which acts as a pore minimizer and controls shine.
I typically avoid waterproof makeup because it's challenging to remove, but Lancôme's jet black liquid eyeliner is my new favorite product. It lasts all day, doesn't smudge or flake, and it's easy to remove with micellar water.
This liner also sports an ultra slim flexible felt brush that easily glides across my lash line and leaves behind a glossy midnight black shine.
Makeup artist Danessa Myricks created my new go-to dewy liquid foundation. The lightweight base provides buildable medium-to-full coverage and combines skincare quality ingredients like hyaluronic acid, squalane, and jojoba oil.
It also imparts a natural, candlelit glow that looks like your skin but better.
Rihanna's best-selling Gloss Bomb is now available in Bubble Binge, an attention-grabbing hot pink that's appropriate for a creative workplace or just for fun.
The non-sticky gloss is infused with nourishing vitamin A and sports an extra-large doe fit applicator for quick and easy application. And its peach-vanilla scent is noticeable but not overwhelming.
Briogeo wants to alleviate your flaky, dry scalp with its latest release: a shampoo infused with a blend of hydrating ingredients, alpha, and beta hydroxy acids, and detoxifying binchotan charcoal.
Salicylic acid relieves your scalp from itching, redness, and flaking, while lactic acid gently exfoliates and removes product buildup and dirt.
This color-safe shampoo is gentle enough for daily use, although I use it once or twice a month to avoid dehydrating my scalp.
Ellis Brooklyn is my favorite clean fragrance brand because each perfume has an addictive scent without any questionable ingredients like parabens and phthalates.
Its latest drop embodies warm spring days and even longer nights thanks to a delicious blend of fresh fig, warm bergamot, enticing florals, and the familiar scent of vanilla.
Legendary makeup artist Dame Pat McGrath surprised fans with a stunning Bridgerton-themed collection to help you look like a regal “diamond of the first water.”
While the eyeshadow palette, eyeliner, blushes, and matte lipsticks are enticing, my favorite item from the collection is the SatinAllure lipstick. They're available in seven shades and boast a creamy texture thanks to collagen and passion fruit extract.
I can always count on Stila to make exciting palettes, and its latest offering has become my new go-to for spring. And given the compact size and variety of colors available, I plan on traveling with it during summer vacation.
Each set includes a gorgeous pink or orange cream blush that doubles as a lip tint. There are also four eyeshadows, ranging from pearly champagne and shimmery brown to vibrant hues like magenta, teal, and purple.
OK, so you secured your new Supergoop spray sunscreen, but what about your face? Model Winnie Harlow just launched a skincare line inspired by her Jamaican heritage, and her most standout product is this sunblock.
It sports a yellow tint that blends easily into your complexion while standout ingredients like nectar, antioxidants, and sea moss moisturize and protect your skin from environmental stress.
Orange peel fibers aren’t your typical mascara component, so I wasn’t sure what to think before opening my bareMinerals mascara tube. Thankfully, these fibers don’t cause spider lashes. Instead, it helps volumize, separate, and define them.
The water-resistant and smudgeproof mascara is also made with a microalgae complex that promises to help thicken my lashes over time.
Spring is almost here, so I finally swapped out heavy creams and balms for lightweight products. As its name suggests, this eye cream is infused with hyaluronic acid, one of my favorite hydrating ingredients. There’s also caffeine and niacinamide to help brighten and perk up my delicate undereye skin.
Do you need the hyaluronic acid eye cream and these eye patches? 100%, and here’s why:
Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Zion Ko, M.D. teamed up with Murad to create these eye patches you can use up to three times a week.
They’re made from coconut-derived bio cellulose that legitimately stays in place under your eyes. And they utilize relatively gentle retinol and fruit extracts to minimize dark circles, puffiness, and wrinkles.
Ariana Grande’s ponytail is her most well-known beauty signature, but I’ve always been partial to her eye makeup.
The Dream Lashes are available in two styles: provocateur for a fun and flirty vibe and daydreamin for dramatic volume and length. Easy to apply (and remove), you can grab both sets of false eyelashes to accommodate whatever creative makeup look suits your mood.
So, I clearly love retinol, but who can blame me when it’s priced so cheaply?! Seriously, RoC’s serum is the most affordably priced retinol treatment I’ve come across while covering beauty.
It uses three forms of hyaluronic acid to plump up mature skin, while retinol increases skin turnover and promotes collagen production. Watch your fine lines and wrinkles fade over time, revealing youthful and soft-AF skin.
These gentle and hydrating wipes remove waterproof makeup, oil, and other impurities on my skin. Their genius lies in the gentle formula: hyaluronic acid surges my skin with much-needed hydration while antioxidants and vitamins soothe my face.
Your sensitive skin shouldn't feel irritated when you use these wipes.
I love using a flat iron just as much as the next beauty editor, but sometimes you don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars on a hot tool.
This 1-inch hair straightener is a great value because it’s effective but won’t sink a hole in your wallet. Not to mention, it features ceramic plates infused with argan oil and keratin, which leaves my hair shiny, smooth, and healthy.
I typically don't spend more than $10 on a bottle of nail polish because I can find plenty of spa-quality products for cheap. Case in point: Sally Hanson's new Insta-Dri City Chic Collection, which includes three neutral pastels, two vivid pops of color, and a sprinkle-inspired shimmer.
To simplify my manicure routine, the brand created a larger brush, allowing me to paint my nails quickly.
