What Does It Do?
Initially launched in 2018 with the Spirulina Protein Anti-Frizz Smoothing Spray, IGK's Good Behavior line was crafted to whip your unruliest strands back into shape. Each product in the line is meant to smooth out frizz and flyaways while giving your hair an added shine boost.
Consider this line your DIY keratin treatment: Each product is meant to give your tresses a sleek and glossy (never greasy) finish, and it's filled with spirulina protein, which works wonders for strengthening and nourishing hair.
Why Do I Love It?
I have thick, wavy locks that love to frizz up no matter what time of the year it is. I can't help it — my hair is naturally a frizz ball with the texture of steel wool, and rarely do I find a product that satisfies my needy strands. Well, now I have an entire line of hair care products that have effectively cut down on frizz and cut down on my hair styling time — a win-win!
Another bonus to this line is its affordability, especially in comparison to salon treatments. The line starts at $27 and caps off at $33, which means you can buy the entire trio and still spend less money than splurging on a professional keratin treatment, which can easily set you back at least $250.
Here are my thoughts on each product within the Good Behavior line:
IGK Good Behavior Spirulina Protein Anti-Frizz Smoothing Spray
This is the first (and personally, my favorite) product to come from the line. It's formulated with IGK's proprietary formaldehyde-free Innovative Bonding Polymers and spirulina protein to help cut down on blow-drying time, protect against humidity, heat, and UV damage, and leave your strands feeling soft, shiny, and frizz-free.
Out of all of the amazing frizz-defying products in the Good Behavior line, this O.G. is my absolute favorite. This spray makes sleek, shiny hair completely effortless: Just simply spritz it all over damp hair, comb it through, and blow dry for the straightest, sleekest strands of your life.
I’ve been using this pre-blow-drying treatment on my strands on a weekly basis for three years, and I’ve never found anything that performs as well on frizz as this. This spray leaves my strands shiny, soft, and of course frizz-free, and it’s much gentler on my hair than my previous keratin appointments were. Bonus: It’s also cut my blow-drying time from 20 minutes to 5 — seriously, 5 — minutes. It’s replaced my entire post-shower routine, and my hair doesn’t even need a smoothing oil after styling.
Though I do love this spray, there are two things that I want to highlight that some people may not enjoy. First off, it does have a heavy chemical-like smell, so open up some windows before you spray it. But don’t fret about stinky strands: The smell goes away as you blow-dry your hair, so your hair will smell just fine after using it.
The one thing that I would change about this product is that it's in an aerosol can. Aerosol products are known to negatively impact the environment and are proven to be a factor in climate change, so green beauty lovers may want to opt out of using this particular product.
IGK Good Behavior 4-in-1 Prep Spray
Consider this non-aerosol spray your first step out of the shower. This four-in-one hair spray is fortified with spirulina protein and coconut oil to detangle, protect against heat, control frizz, and enhance shine. Unlike its predecessor, this spray can be used whether you're styling with heated tools or air-drying.
This non-aerosol spritzer is the second product to come from this line, and it's my essential post-wash product for day-to-day styling, especially on air drying days.
Since we are still in a global pandemic, my heated tools have been sitting on the back burner while I embrace my natural hair texture. Though I genuinely do love my 2B hair, I still don’t enjoy the frizz that comes with it, so I use this prep spray as my sole air-drying product. It leaves my hair super soft and tames down the frizz without flattening my natural curls, which is exactly what I want on those low-maintenance hair days.
As an added bonus, this product also works well as a first step before the IGK Good Behavior Spirulina Protein Anti-Frizz Smoothing Spray in case you want to up the ante on your straight, glossy look.
IGK Good Behavior Spirulina Protein Anti-Frizz Smoothing Balm
Meant for thicker, curly-to-coily hair, this balm-like product melts into strands while blowdrying, leaving them sleek and straight enough to mimic a professional keratin treatment. This formula includes spirulina protein, IGK's Innovative Bonding Polymers, and hydrating shea butter.
If you want the effects of Good Behavior's initial product without the strong scent or aerosol formula, then this is definitely for you. I love this creamy, dreamy balm texture, and it instantly seeps into my strands while I blow dry, creating a plump and thicker look while smoothing out all of my frizziest tresses.
A little goes a long way with this balm, so you'll have enough product to use for weeks to months on end, depending on how often you use heated tools. Like the rest of the products in this line, it also acts as a heat protectant so you don't have to add any extra product.
One note I do have for my fine-haired friends: This balm is especially thick and made for curly-to-coily hair, so this product may weigh down your hair. If you have very thin, fine hair, then you're going to want to skip on this product.
The Final Word
If you have frizzy, thick, dry hair like me, then I beg of you: Please do yourself the favor of investing in this strand-smoothing trio. Each and every product in the IGK Good Behavior line are equally impressive in their own way, depending on your hair type and what look you're going for.
