The Problem: Reusable water bottles are excellent on many levels, but their weight and rigid form make them annoying to lug around.
The Solution: For fueling up at home or picking up a coffee or tea on the go, the Stojo Collapsible Travel Cup is simply the better choice.
I'm a longtime stainless steel water bottle user (and fan!), and while perhaps nothing may be better for keeping 17 ounces of ice-cold water handy on a long day out and about, sometimes ... that's not what you want. For accompanying meandering walks, outdoor lounging on crisp, sunny days, and serendipitous stops into cozy-looking coffee shops, Stojo's Collapsible Travel Cup is the better vessel for the job.
The Stojo Collapsible Travel Cup comprises a silicone vessel and tab, along with a BPA-free polypropylene twist-on lid and heat sleeve. When it’s collapsed, the pleats of the silicone cup fold up neatly into the lid, and the heat sleeve flips upside down to slot perfectly right around the base. The cup shape-shifts into a small disc that adds virtually no weight or bulk to a bag. (I’ve even carried it in a coat pocket when I’ve finished my beverage midwalk.)
While it's available in four sizes ranging from 8- to 24-ounce capacities (and in a vast array of color combos), I think the 12-ounce Stojo cup is the ideal to-go size: It holds enough to quench your thirst and fits comfortably in the hand. It's also worth noting that the 16- and 24-ounce sizes come with a matching silicone straw that folds up into the vessel when collapsed.
Unlike a stainless steel insulated water bottle, the Stojo cup is lightweight, microwaveable, dishwasher-safe, and, not to mention, incredibly easy to hand-wash. The same cannot be said for the tedious task of hand-washing my S’well bottle (iykyk).
The Stojo cup has three notable limitations, but they aren’t serious enough to keep me from loving and heartily recommending it. When it’s filled with liquid, you simply won’t be able to toss it in your bag — it’s not that kind of to-go cup. The leakproof seal could very easily pop out of place in a stuffed bag — and it won’t keep hot drinks hot for 12 hours like some insulated water bottles (which I’m totally fine with since I don't enjoy drinking tea at boiling-hot temperatures). And finally, the silicone's flexibility can sometimes cause coffee to squirt out of it if you accidentally squeeze its sides instead of its rigid heat sleeve. However, these are simply qualities of the material, not design flaws.
The Stojo Collapsible Travel Cup is the easiest and simplest thing to have on hand for those in-between moments of my day. It's as great for carrying home-brewed tea from my kettle out on a midafternoon walk as it is a to-go solution at a cafe. Instead of using and throwing out yet another disposable cup, do the eco-friendlier thing and get a Stojo cup, stash it in your go-to bag, and you'll be set to enjoy a delicious hot drink, no matter where you are.
