Some products show up everywhere — subway ads, Instagram, celeb endorsements. With this series, we're testing such products to conclude one thing: Does it live up to the hype?

LELO is basically the Ferrari of the sex toy industry, thanks to their elevated take on jackrabbits and vibrators alike. They recently set the bar even higher with their latest launch, the Sila: a sex toy that subs regular vibration with sonic waves for the most orgasmic experience you've ever gotten from a vibrator, whether you’re playing with a partner or going solo.

LELO is known for creating luxury sex toys for all to enjoy. If you want to give your sex toy collection an elevated take that isn't some random (and at times, sketchy) pick from Amazon, LELO has your back — or anywhere else on your body — with their impressive take on sexual wellness that includes a futuristic, aesthetically pleasing approach.

LELO's latest launch in the feminine sex-tech industry is the Sila, a sex toy that's meant to replicate (if not enhance) the feeling of oral sex through gentle sonic waves. It may sound a little intense at first, but trust us: Once you try out the Sila, you'll be cumming back to it again and again.

I'm a genuine believer in sex toys, but I'm more particularly a believer in finding the right sex toy that feels pleasurable to you. For me, that's especially hard since I'm the Goldilocks of orgasming: Everything has to turn me on just the way I like it, I can't hear any loud buzzing from a toy, it has to have different speeds so I can adjust depending on my sexual mood of the day, and most importantly it can't be one of those off-putting realistic dildos that are sprinkled across the sales floors of skeevy sex shops.

So, where does one find a luxury sex toy anyway? Thankfully, LELO is the answer. I've personally been obsessed with this brand since I'd first heard of LELO back in 2018, when they teamed up with sex-positive celebrity and feminist activist Amber Rose to launch the sexiest collaboration to ever exist. Shortly after hearing of this partnership, I immediately rushed to my computer and ordered my first-ever vibrator, their best-selling Ina Wave (celebrity marketing truly works!) and have seldom strayed from LELO ever since.

Though jackrabbit-style sex toys like the Ina Wave are fun, I was looking for something else to switch up my sex toy collection (which, since 2018, has grown tremendously). That's when I stumbled upon the Sila, a sex toy that subs vibrations for a gentle sonic wave that stimulates your clitoris. It's similar in structure to its predecessor, the Ora 3, except the sonic waves of the Sila create a sucking feeling, almost like getting eaten out while the Ora 3 is more focused on rubbing the clit. It may seem like a subtle change at first, but once you try it, you'll understand just how much of a difference it makes in your sexual experience.

Though sonic-wave sex toys aren’t necessarily new, there’s a few specs about the Sila specifically that make it topple the rest. First off, it has eight different stimulating settings to choose from, and they’re all adjustable in intensity. That’s a major plus in my book since a lot of sex toys can be a little overzealous with their intensity settings and feel more like electrocution than a pleasurable experience. Sometimes all a girl needs is a soft, gentle purr instead of an Energizer-bunny feel, you know?

Another thing that’s really great about the Sila is its extra-large “mouth” hole. Another subtle difference that many people would look over if they weren't exactly a sex toy sommelier like myself, this extra-wide mouth allows the Sila to hit all parts of your clit so you can get a full-bodied (and we really mean full-bodied) climax. The Sila’s ultra wide mouth gives you that “just hits the spot” feeling that even some partners can't seem to get just right, which is why I'm more than confident in whipping the Sila out even if I have a sexual partner in my bed.

A few other things to note about the Sila: It's made out of a body-safe and ultra smooth silicone, so you won't have to worry about dryness or irritation (just make sure to use a sex toy-friendly lube if you need one!), and its battery life runs for 2 hours. That may seem like a short amount of time, but I've had my Sila for a month so far and I've only charged it once — because honestly, 5 minutes is all I need from it to get off.

One thing I will note about the Sila is that it's supposed to be whisper-quiet, but you can definitely still hear it. On the highest intensity, this sonic-wave vibrator can be heard from my bedroom to the bathroom of my tiny apartment, so if you live in a crowded home or just don't want to hear any buzzing from your sex toys, I'd recommend opting for something a little quieter.

If you're in need of a toe-curling orgasm — we've spent nearly a year under quarantine so far, after all — then you definitely need to check out the LELO Sila. It's the most impressive (and aesthetically pleasing, by the way) sonic-wave toy in the sex-tech market, and it puts the “master” in masturbation. Believe us, once you try out the Sila, you’ll be running back for more.
