Brooklinen's Bath Towels Are an Everyday Luxury That's Worth the Upgrade

They're made for pleasure-seekers.

Bathing is, for the most part, a perfunctory act. We lather, rinse, repeat, and then step out of our steam chamber into the cold bathroom to towel off. As anyone with a 6 a.m. wake-up time could tell you, trying to get warm and dry that early is always the worst part. You can call it a morning ritual, but let's be honest — your bathing regimen is as routine as it gets.

The fastest way to upgrade your everyday? Swapping out your old, worn-out linens for a luxurious, generously-sized towel that you'll actually look forward to using post-shower. I used Brooklinen's brand-new bath towels for a month, and they totally transformed how I viewed my mornings at home. There's no longer any need to be mindlessly rushing — I can consciously enjoy the quiet of my space, the view of the slowly waking world outside, even the smell and taste of the coffee I'm usually slurping down. Using thick and fluffy bath linens specially crafted for tactile enjoyment and longevity turns the task of drying off into a small daily treat. Why can't everything feel this good?

Brooklinen

When Brooklinen's bath towel collection launched in May, it marked the first new major shopping vertical for the direct-to-consumer bedding brand. I was excited to try out the new textiles, as we'd previously tested their sateen sheet set and loved how luxurious, yet livable they are for the modern home. Brooklinen's brand aesthetic and ethos don't aim to overhaul the home, but to refine its basics. Their products' palette of neutrals may be restrained, but the quality certainly isn't.

Brooklinen Super-Plush Bath Towels (Set of Two)
$69.00

The Brooklinen Super-Plush Bath Towels ($69 for a set of two) are made of Oeko-Tex-certified Turkish cotton, are slightly larger than standard-sized towels, and, true to their name, weigh in at a notably plush 850 GSM! (The towel's GSM number denotes grams-per-square-meter — the higher the number, the more dense the material. Anything over 500 GSM is considered resort-level fluffy.) They're available in four colors and sold in sets of various size permutations, not individually. On first feel, they're exquisitely pillowy; you can press a hand to them and leave a clear imprint!

After I toweled off with them for the first time, it was interesting to note how gentle the material felt. I was simply padding moisture off instead of aggressively toweling my skin dry. While the towel is quite weighty, its fibers seem to glide over skin. Just like that, a totally forgettable part of my daily hygiene routine became quite lush. I also noticed that the towel in the evening didn't retain any of the morning's moisture, even though denser towels can take most of the day to dry. This won major points, because a material with quick-drying properties means that it's less likely to harbor mold and mildew. It's also worth noting that the towels really feel their fluffiest when they've been completely machine-dried. During one wash, I took them out of the dryer just before they reached bone-dry, and using them that week, the texture felt slightly rougher. This was rectified with future washings, but it's something to keep in mind if you air-dry your linens.

These towels are still a relatively new product in the market, so time will tell how they hold up long-term (watch this space!). However, I found that in a month's worth of use, there was virtually no degradation when compared to a control towel in the set that I left unused! While the $69 price point for the pair isn't cheap, I think it's well-justified, considering their plush feel and quick-drying craftsmanship (plus, they already have a considerable number of five-star reviews on their website). For those who want to elevate their bathing ritual and prolong those squeaky-clean feelings of enjoyment post-shower, Brooklinen's new towels are definitely a refined upgrade to start or end the day with. Sinfully soft bath linens are a small luxury, sure, but a hard one to forget once you've gotten a feel for it.
